From serving his country as a proud Marine Veteran, to serving his community one plate at a time, Frank Magana's journey is built on a foundation of dedication and service.
After two deployments to Iraq, Frank found a path to healing through the art of "low and slow" BBQ. He channeled the discipline and passion he learned in the Marines to master his craft, creating the unique style that became a beloved food truck and now a quaint log cabin in Decatur, Tennessee.
At Hearty Hog Take-Out & Catering, you'll find more than just delicious food—you'll find a welcoming atmosphere with outdoor seating, games, and a team dedicated to their craft. We are proud to make everything from scratch, including our sourdough sweet buns, and serve a variety of unique "Wildcard" specials.
But our mission of service doesn't stop with our customers. The Hearty Hog brand is a proud host for the Veterans BBQ Camp, a non-profit founded by Frank that teaches fellow veterans the therapeutic hobby of BBQ. Every meal you enjoy helps us support this mission.

We make our own Sourdough Sweet Buns
A homemade sausage, cream cheese stuffed jalapeno that is then covered with shredded cheese, then smoked for two hours before being placed on 6 ounces of pulled pork, on our sourdough Sweet bun. Add Spicy BBQ sauce if you really need to spice things up.
